To Copywriter: YOU’RE FIRED!

Every so-often, a hopeful copywriter pulls a dramatic sales-stunt to land YaghiLabs as their next “big client”.

Recently, I was contacted by such a copywriter.

“I think you have a valuable product,” he said. “But, your sales page is terrible. The good news is, i can rewrite it and help you increase conversion!”

Thanks. But no thanks.

Unless you’ve been hand-trained by me, i just don’t trust you.

Don’t get me wrong.

I would love to increase conversion.

But even the most genius, highest paid copywriter on the planet couldn’t outsell me just by messing with my sales page.

Not because i’m such a brilliant copywriter myself…

Nor is it because i think my sales page couldn’t be improved. It could be better.

But because i know that the sales page has the TINIEST effect on sales.

And if you’re an affiliate-, system-, or network- marketer you’ve been told their system sales page converts at X%. Not for you, though 😉

You’re envious of the top seller in your opportunity making 10’s of thousands per month. But, no matter what you try, you can’t do the same.

Yet, they sell the same product, use the same system, run traffic to the same sales page– Theoretically you should be doing just as well as they are.

But you’re not!

So what’s the problem?

Traffic? HAHA!

No.

A couple of weeks ago, i wanted to increase sales of a product that is already selling damn well. When i say “damn well”, i mean we sell 40 customers on average, for every 100 leads.

Can you beat that?

We couldn’t! Even though the sales page was written by one of our partners as a LITERAL place-holder, with the hope that we would improve it later. After all, it’s extremely short and to the trained eye looks like little effort was made.

I heard that video outsells text by 20-50%.

So i wanted to try it…

I produced a KILLER sales video. It took two months to put together and was a team-effort of the most expert members of my staff.

I mean this thing was STELLAR. I was so proud of it–it was hypnotic, it was engaging, it was upbeat…and i figured it was going to beat the text sales letter by a giant margin.

But i was SHOCKED at the result.

Both text and video versions were neck-and-neck at a DRAW for the entire duration of our split-test.

Neither out-performed the other!

No matter what i changed, no matter how dramatic the difference, we simply could NOT beat the control nor could we justify replacing the old, simple sales letter with a “better” one.

Why?

Because the sales letter was NOT doing the selling. The follow-up was.

What i discovered over years of testing is that follow-up is the ONLY thing that affects conversion. That’s what the top affiliates are doing different from you.

That’s why when i updated our Done-For-You Traffic service this year, i wanted our customers to be 120% SATISFIED that we did a good job with the traffic campaigns we setup for them…and that means the traffic MUST CONVERT to money!

So we now pre-write for you a full follow-up sequence of emails.

When we write emails for you, we literally do a ton of market-research…

Our team of researchers study discussions from real prospects to find out what your target customer’s hottest hot-buttons are…

What their frustrations are…

What their objections are…

What they TRULY desire

What will make them BUY…

And then we use our research to write 10 emails FOR YOU which, if you follow the same strategy consistently (we explain to you what this is), we guarantee you’ll turn even the tiniest trickles of traffic into raving BUYERS of your products.

That’s why we don’t really focus much on copywriting and sales pages!

Want us to write a best-selling follow-up email sequence for you?

Then read about our Done-For-You Traffic Service here…

Because our emails will get a return on your advertising expense and effort! Not your opportunity’s sales page 😉

How Many Ads Are Recommended to Have Running at Any One Time on Adwords?

Google Adwords can show one or more ads per Ad-Group.

Ads that share an Adgroup are called Ad Variations. They may be a combination of text, image, and video ads.

When Split-Testing, it is a good idea to create only TWO ad variations that are very close and change one variable at a time.

For example, you could test the difference between asking a question in the headline or making a statement:

  1. Ad#1: “Sick of Being Fat?”
  2. or  Ad#2:”Get Rid of Fat”

Using Ad Variations for split-testing, is only a small use of an otherwise very powerful Adwords feature.

There are cases when you may like to have as many as 10 ad variations in a single ad-group!

Allow me to explain…

Google chooses from the ads you provide, and shows each ad to an audience that may find it relevant. Let’s take an example.

Suppose you have an adgroup containing the keyword:

weight loss

This keyword could apply to a wide variety of audiences researching all kinds of things. So we identify that people searching for “weight loss” may be dealing with several different problem areas:

  • thigh-fat
  • belly-fat
  • arm jiggle

Also, they might be looking for different types of solutions:

  • weight loss supplements
  • diet plans
  • exercises and exercise equipment

Once you’ve identified the problems and solutions, you need to write appropriate ads for each. The ads will be displayed in the best context based on previous session searches by the user, and on other preferences and intel Google has about them.

Let’s try to write ads for the first three scenarios:

Burn Thigh Fat
5 Simple Ways to Zap
The Fat From Your Thighs.
5-fat-secrets.com

Flatten Belly Fat
5 Simple Ways to Zap
Your Belly Flat!
5-fat-secrets.com

Arm Jiggle?
5 Simple Ways to Make
Your Arms Firm Again!
5-fat-secrets.com
You’ll notice the ads are not too similar. They each address a different concern but ultimately lead to the same solution.

Since Google displays these on the network whenever the context is correct, we leave that up to them. Our job is to make sure there is an ad present for every problem-solution that motivates the search.

In addition to variations on text ads, you may need to include banner ads of different sizes, video ads, and any other medium available to make sure you can be seen everywhere your target audience exist.

So there is no limit on how many ads you “should” have at one time in Adwords. Put as many as you need, and let the engine determine when to show which ads.

How to Create an Affiliate Redirect Script Easily Using HTML Code

Affiliate links can be ugly complicated URLs. Having an easy way to make affiliate recommendations can substantially improve the odds of making sales. This guide will help you create “pretty URLs” to share your affiliate links and increase your commissions!

This is an easy guide to create your own “pretty affiliate URLs” using a simple affiliate redirect script in pure HTML with a time-delay.

First of all, let’s take a look at the desired effect. For this example, I’m going to use a nice Legal Form Generator affiliate URL I often share:

http://www.nitroshoppingcart.com/app/?af=1268050

Notice the URL is complex. It’s hard to say it in an audio recording, or even for a prospect to remember it.

Rather than give out this complicated URL, I simply share a “pretty affiliate URL” that looks like this:

http://jimyaghi.com/recommends/legal

Tidy, isn’t it? You can create your own on your domain using the following recipe.

Requirements:

  1. A domain name (your current website domain will do)
  2. A hosting account (your website is fine for this too)
  3. FTP access to your server so you can transfer files
  4. A text editor like Microsoft Notepad or Mac TextEdit
  5. At least ONE Affiliate URL

Directions:

1. Open your text editor and copy the following HTML code exactly to a new file:

<meta http-equiv="Refresh"
content="5"
url="http://www.nitroshoppingcart.com/app/?af=1268050">
<html>
 <head>Redirect...</head>
 <body>
<p>Please wait while we redirect you...</p>
 </body>
</html>

2. Replace the demo link with your own affiliate link, making sure not to remove the double quotes in the code.

3. Replace the number “5” with any number of seconds of delay you’d like to use before the page is redirected.

4. Save the file to your Desktop with the name ‘index.html’ (without quotes).

5. Open your FTP client (BestFtp 2000 or WinSCP is good)

6. Connect to your server’s home directory. Usually /public_html or just /html.

7. Create a new directory called ‘recommends’ (without quotes).

8. Browse to the ‘recommends’ directory

9. Create a new directory called ‘legal’ or whatever you want to refer to your affiliate program as. It doesn’t matter what you put here, as long as it’s a unique name.

10. Browse to the ‘legal’ directory.

11. Once inside, upload the index.html file on your desktop to the open directory. This copies the file index.html to http://yourdomain.com/recommends/legal/

You’re done!

Now you can test this by browsing to http://yourdomain.com/recommends/legal

Of course, if you used different directories, you would need to replace my demo URL with the path you used.

You can add as many affiliate products as you want in the same way. Just create new directories inside the ‘recommends’ directory and upload index.html files to them.

The file “index.html” is the default file accessed when someone browses to the directory you specify. Share your pretty affiliate URL with your prospects and all sales that access your pretty link from now on will be tracked to you.

Please Note: If you don’t need to use a delayed redirect, you may like to try the Affiliate Link PHP Redirect or the Affiliate Link Javascript Redirect versions instead.

Quadruple Your Adsense CTR and Blog Revenue

Ever wonder how people really make $100,000 from placing Google’s Adsense blocks on their website? This is by no means a comprehensive guide, but it will get you started with 4 ideas for doing Adsense right. For detailed help, check the references included.

You’re frustrated with Adsense.

15 cents of revenue today. Yay.

NOT!!!

Ever wonder how people really make 5- and 6- figure revenue from placing Google’s Adsense ads on their website?

This is by no means a comprehensive guide, but it will get you started with 4 ways to make Adsense pay you money. To really turn your website into a cash-cow, check out the references included below.

1. Manipulate Eye Movement

There is a science to controlling the eye-movements of your web-users.

Colour, size, position, and “surroundings” affect this.

You should not try to draw attention to ads by making them “shout” with big red borders and arrows pointing into the text.

Being subtle is key.

For example, if all your site’s text is coloured black, then try to colour the ad-text grey. This sneakily draws the eye. The idea is to make the visitor think you don’t want them to pay attention – while at the same time forcing them to look.

Experienced web users have developed banner blindness – Anything that is too flashy and shiny, they automatically categorise in their head as “banner” and ignore it.

Check out this brilliant example from the Digitalpoint forum: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=17104

The website owner uses little piggy images placed above the ad block. Doesn’t it seem like pigs are part of the page footer? The truth is, the website owner intentionally aligned each pig with one ad position so as to focus the eye there.

We use eye-focus tricks on YOU.

At this website, we use many eye-focus tricks on non-ad blocks. If you find your eyes focusing on an area of the screen that doesn’t shout, there’s a good chance we designed it this way to get your attention. 😉

To learn more about controlling eye movement, check out Imagination in Graphics Chapter 5 of the Internet Business Academy.

2. Make Adsense Blend In

When you read an article in a magazine – there are “sidebars” with extra background information.

Do you interrupt your reading to look at the sidebar, or do you come back later?

When the background of text ads is different from the page, the ad block sticks out.

Through the corner of their eye, while engaged in your content, visitors will perceive the ad blocks as unrelated to their reading. So they ignore them.

Give your Adsense blocks the same background colour as your document. This way they become part of the visitor’s reading.

To learn more about object placement to get your visitors to take desired actions like buying or subscribing, check out Friendly Websites Chapter 4 of the Internet Business Academy.

3. Kill Your Auto-Blog

Don’t buy or use “adsense blogs” and templates. They are quite stupid.

Automatically generated content theoretically games Google – to send visitors and place “relevant ads” on your site. But you need REAL people to click the ads on your web-property if you hope to make money from it.

When you use crawler type content, unfiltered RSS feed collections, and other garbage, it’s like being in a nasty neighbourhood asking passers-by if they’d like to buy a Rolex. Nobody trusts that.

Worse, if someone clicks an ad, you send them away from your website. Do you think anyone be will returning to an autoblog?

No. Never!

A good blog has returning visitors because it has useful, entertaining, and fresh content. Even if your visitors click an adsense ad that takes them off your website, they will return. You don’t lose them. Which means you’ll work less to keep your site quite busy.

To learn more about creating engaging blogs that get plenty of free traffic and return visitors, check out Advertising, Traffic, and Promotion Chapter 7 of the Internet Business Academy.

4. We’ve only Scratched the Surface Here

Adsense monetizes the Information & Entertainment business model.

But there are TWO other revenue models online which are FASTER to profit from – learn about them in Planning Your Profit Machine, Chapter 2 of the YaghiLabs Internet Business Academy.

PPC Domination Prize List and Qualification Criteria
PPC Domination Prize List and Qualification Criteria

Only 4 days left until the launch of PPC Domination.

And if you follow my instructions here, I can help you feast your eyes on a fat 4- or 5-figure commission in your Paypal by January 31st. And I’m not even talking about the $3,000.00 cash prize or the 15″ MacBook Pro laptop that some lucky, lucky, lucky girl or guy is gonna end up with by winning the affiliate contest.

With every Magnetic Sponsoring launch, people like David Schwind, Fernando Ceballos, Raymond Fong, and myself  cash in big time. And I don’t think any of us have ever been the official “winners” either. Though we’ve been strong contenders in any case.

There’s a simple formula each of us uses. Anyone, no matter how small-time can duplicate it just as easily and have a 4- or 5- figure month this month:

1. Change Your Signature

Change your forum signature in all the forums you participate in. Insert a link to your affiliate landing page.

Even in betternetworker where most of the Magnetic Sponsoring crowd hang out, you can still get sales. In fact, about 80% of the commissions I earned during launches came directly from the community website! Remember, many members in the forum have never bought any MS product yet.

And, more importantly, the forum is visible and accessible to public searches in all the search engines.

A good signature will make use of the visibility from ALL of your past forum postings. And as for future ones, this is around the time I start participating in the forums a lot more. So go ahead and look for threads you can add value to!

2. Create a YouTube Review of PPC Domination

Get out your webcam, flip cam, or even use Camtasia and record your screen. Make a short and sweet YouTube video (1 or 2 minutes) focused around the benefit people will get by opting in for the freebie offered on the product launch page. Tell people what they can hope to learn once they register on your affiliate landing page. At the end of the video, make sure to post your personal affiliate page inside the footage.

Windows Movie Maker (free with windows) and other similar programs allow you to add titles. Use the “title” feature to tell people your affiliate link. It’s register your own domain and forward to it so you don’t lose commissions.

Don’t assume that because you put the URL in the description you won’t need it in the video too. Your video may be embeded in other websites and blogs without the attached text content. If that happens, you want your URL visible in the video itself!

When YouTube asks you for a text description, either write the transcript of what you say in the video or leave it blank for now. I’ve got another step later that will help you fill it out. But make sure you paste the link to your affiliate URL right at the top of the description before everythign else. This ensures it’s visible without viewers having to click “more info”.

Your video title should at least have the name of the product and one benefit of it. For example, with PPC Domination, your title may be, “How to Generate 200 MLM Leads / Day Using PPC Domination ” or “5 Deadly Mistakes Network Marketers Make With PPC”.

3. Write an Article

Articles should be educational or informative. Their purpose is similar to that of the YouTube video you uploaded. Give your reader an evaluation of the product if you already have it or give a summary of the benefits people can expect from the information contained in the product.

An article is quick to write. You only need 400 words.

4. Post Your Article to Your Blog

If you have a blog, post your article there first. This will mark to the search engines that this is the “source” of the content because your RSS feed will be read earliest.

Link the name of the product to the your affiliate landing page. Also, at the bottom of the article, add a prominent link to your page with a direct call to action. Then go back and copy the embed code from YouTube for your video and paste it somewhere in this article’s blog entry somewhere appropriate.

You can even add a banner to your blog for the duration of the launch to help increase your reach.

5. Copy Your Article Into YouTube

If you didn’t use a transcript in your YouTube video, just copy directly your entire article and paste it as the description of the video you posted to YouTube earlier. Make sure that your URL still appears at the VERY top of the video submission though.

This step helps the search engines find your video better because search engines are hungry for text. And you would have just given them a whole bunch of recycled text in the video description!

6. Copy Your Article into Squidoo

Create a squidoo lens around your PPC Domination article. Include your YouTube video too. Make sure you link back to the same article in your blog. (Don’t link to the main home page of your blog or it’s pointless). Also, within the lens, have a direct call to action that asks people to go get your freebie from your affiliate URL.

7. Submit Your Article

Use Ezine Articles to submit your article again. Remove all links from within the body of your article or it will be rejected. The review process can take an entire week after submission so do this soon.

Don’t forget to remove any promotional/salesy content within the article itself. Your bio line is the only place you’re allowed to have a direct call to action. Use it wisely and send people directly to the same article in your blog post.

Repeat the same process by submitting the article to the betternetworker website.

8. Share Your Video

Bookmark your video with digg and del.icio.us. And post it to your Facebook profile too.

9. Share Your Blog Post

Bookmark your blog post with digg and del.icio.us. And make sure that Facebook is importing notes from your blog.

10. Tweet About It

Write a twitter entry to your blog. If you use the Twitter application on Facebook you can even get it to update your Facebook status to match your twitter update! That’s a smart way to put your new blog post in front of your Facebook buddies–all those annoying people who have been adding you to look at their bizops can see it.

11. Write a Press Release (really profitable!!)

This is one of my favourite methods of promotion–particularly useful when there is a product launch.

A press release is a kind of ad directed at news reporters and bloggers. You’re trying to sell them on a story or new, newsworthy event. If reporters likes your story, they will investigate further (sometimes by contacting you). The result is multiple blog entries and RSS syndicated content throughout the web, and possible exposure offline when people write news based on your release!

The best press releases are short and about two paragraphs in length. They evoke curiosity.

In the body of the release or in the “closing” details, send the reader directly to your affiliate landing page for more information.

I usually pay for press releases but you have the option to submit them free. If you submit a free press release your links won’t be blue and clickable. This means search engines won’t recognise them and give love to your site. Also, it means if a reader of your release wants to get more info they need to copy and paste the URL into their address bar.

A paid press release submission allows you to place active links in your entry. It’s up to you which you choose depending on your budget. I submit press releases at 24-7pressrelease.com where you may choose free or paid options.

I highly recommend that you at least consider spending $10. In my experience, the reviewers aren’t so strict on your release when it’s a paid submission.

12. Blast Your Email List

No matter how small your list size, just send out an E-Mail and ask them to check out the new product. Pass on your affiliate URL.

13. Go Do It Now

Don’t put it off until the launch. Otherwise you’re gonna miss it! Most of the action happens BEFORE the product is launched when everyone is buzzing about it. You have 4 days to fill your pipeline. And when the doors open, everyone you gather over the next 4 days will get a chance to buy.

You will earn commissions not only on the sale of PPC Domination, but on every subsequent sale that follows.

That’s it folks. How much does all of this cost?

Money Spent: $0.00

Time Spent:

  • 30 minutes to write article,
  • 30 minutes to record and edit video,
  • 30 minutes to write a press release,
  • 30 minutes to submit and share
  • Total = 2 hours of work.

Revenue Generated: $1,000-$10,000

I kid you not my friend. I have used this very list at each launch and earned NO less than $1,000 and as much as $10,000. I did this in the early days of hardship and I am doing it even right now.

Good luck!
