Last night I stayed up late tinkering with 1Shoppingcart’s irritating interface.
My friend Ben and I are working on a project in which we needed to filter our contacts in very complex ways. The reason?
Segmenting your mailing list allows you to find “pockets” of money and untapped potential.
Segmenting proved not to be a simple task. We spoke with support several times and played around with the filters for days before getting the result we wanted.
At one point, we seriously considered switching ONCE MORE to another autoresponder service.
This is NEVER fun. We lose contacts every time we make a switch, so it was honestly the LAST THING we wanted to do.
But like I said, it wouldn’t be the first time we changed autoresponder.
Anyway, Ben said, something interesting that got me thinking…
“Jeez one of these days we ought to make an autoresponder service of our own. I’m pretty convinced these things aren’t created by marketers at all–they’re made by programmers who have no idea what we need.”
You know what?
He’s right. A smart email marketer SHOULD create an autoresponder service. You, Ben, and I would all be paying them our monthly contact management fees without a doubt.
They’d of course have to hire the programmers and tell them what to do.
But it would be a far superior service. Instead of paying two autoresponders $200 and $100 a month, one autoresponder would cater to all our marketing needs.
It would solve all the problems we face…
It would be simple for marketers to use, since the creator knows how technically challenged most of us are.
But alas…all the marketers we know are too busy trying to sell an affiliate ebook, marketing system, or network marketing opportunity.
Which is really a shame. I think it’s a waste of marketing talent.
